It was another fine day I had at home last year.But,that noon I was with father to the woods for hunting.Surprising enough,something that never came accross my mind.Off we go.In the 4WD few miles from home,then father intiate a conversation.As what expected, he is to talk about my education on and on again.He just can't get enough of himself talking about this matter.Somehow,at one point in the conversation,we talked about late grandfather.Granddad was one of the men that helps built the primary school which then I attended and finished my primary education.I was informed by father that late grandpa did the job for free.He did not mind helps bulding the school for free as long as his childrens and next generation will be born educated.This is a rare case there because first,simply because most of the people really not aware of education's importance and second, because every families in the community at that time were so affordable to get whatever they wish,and the child's education were not parent priorities.
My father,not only he is just the breadwinner but a teacher.An english teacher.I remember at my time,there were no kindegarten around.The only sibling that attended kindergarten was my first sister,the eldest.So,it is father that took the effort to purchased books,story books and others neccessities and homeschooled me.I still remember he as a very strict teacher with the can on his hand.
I was in primary four when dad bought me a kiko pant.He promised me a present only if I can beat the other student in the classroom.Her name is Dessy.This girl was always the top student in the class.And I was always the third as another girl,Nooreni was always the second.Somehow,I found it so hard to beat these two.So,one day father made a promised that if I can beat these two,he will buy me a present.I tried my best to concerntrate in the classroom and study on my own at home.As a result,I manage to beat both of them and father bought me the pant as my present.
It was when I entered form four that father once again bought me a present.It is a blue John Master long sleeve (which I still wear until thesedays).Maybe because the distinctive result while I was in form three.I still don't know why.But for that I am so grateful to have the long sleeve.It is only now that I realised that he is willing to do anything to see the joy in his childrens.
Father is not just the breadwinner and hero to the family.He is also the hope that keeps me doing the best I can in life for there is nothing I can give in return of all he does to me.He is the living proof that nothing in this world refrain us reaching the best if we put effort and try so hard to get what we want.Wherever I am and will be,I want to make you proud,really proud because you reap what you sow.For one of my friend said to me over our conversation in the phone, father is trying to give what is best for his son,the things that he would do,if he can turn back time.For what it is worth,you deserve everything.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
Happy Birthday , Father .
